When the owner explained how she got started with the Art Academy she claimed “Everyone thought I was crazy.” Even with push back she opened the Peterborough Art Academy and Gallery in 1995.

People thought it would be crazy to open a tribal rug store too, but in 2005 she opened Tribals Rugs by Hand right next door. Her drive as a woman businesses owner is inspiring.

This image of Sarah was inspirited by growth. I wanted to highlight women's growth. Growth within their career and mind.

Musician's Narrative: Dante
Musician's Narrative: Dante

May 8, 2017.

Dante’s personality is one in a million. She is a very theatrical introvert, extrovert who will make sure she is heard. Her energy is infectious. Music for her is letting emotions out and is inspired by her experiences. Right now she is branching out and trying to get something started with other musicians. Some hardships had taken her away from her passion of playing the bass.

“Mr. Gilman Spaulding was killed with an axe by an insane brother, Sept. 19, 1842.”

Musician's Narrative: Ian

May 14, 2017

Ian recently had a self discovery, where it became apparent that he needed to focus more on his music and make more time for it, take the hobby to next level and let himself evolve.

He has a very strong sense of what he stands for as a musician. He’s had time to sit back and self evaluate and strive for something more. He plays in a local NH band called TumbleToads as a drummer, but 10 years ago started out playing guitar. He said while he played guitar, that he felt restricted to needing to know the knowledge and thinking too hard about it. “If you’re thinkin’, you’re stinkin’.” You need to let yourself be open to change to fully experience music.

The stages in mindset while playing change throughout your skill set on an instrument. “The journeys are unimaginable when you let yourself become free within that “flow state,”” He explained. The “flow state” refers to an experience where you are aware of your surroundings but can keep playing simultaneously either with yourself at an open mic night or playing with other musicians. He claims it is an inward, outward experience with music. When you let your mind free from restrictions (which you make yourself) and how others perceive your flow and the vibe they generate.

May 2, 2017

Melissa found her voice through music. As a child, her Meme would put on a record after dinner. They would sing back and forth while incorporating some dance moves. The vibe she exuberates comes from another generation, a golden age of exploration through music. Her music strives from Louis Armstrong, blues, roots, 1920’s/1940’s sorts. Music is an extremely spiritual experience for her. She wouldn’t consider herself a full blown rebel but she goes against the grain. “Singing is on the same plain as listening because you learn something new from it every time,” she explains. Her first artist she sang and played to me on her ukulele was Stevie Nicks. It was like I had traveled back in time to another place. It was a golden vibe and I got lost in the moment.
